ALLISON BEDA — BIO
Director/Producer/Writer

AllisonAllison Beda formed her film production company A Muse Productions to create films that inspire and entertain. She turned her first career as a fashion model into her first feature documentary How To Be A Model (a Don Haig Award Nominee, presently airing on THE DOC CHANNEL). And her very first short film Know Your Alphabet toured Europe with the films of Stan Brakhage and continues to garner awards and recognition more than 10 years later! (it was recently honored at the Sadho Poetry Film Festival in India).

Allison is a ‘birth abroad’ born to Canadian parents in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but grew up in Vancouver, Canada. She has a BA in film from Simon Fraser University, an MFA in film production from UBC and is an alumni (2008) from the prestigious Women In The Director’s Chair program. Allison has won awards for her work as a director and a writer, but also as an editor and cinematographer! She is one of only about six women in western Canada recognized by I.A.T.S.E. local 669 as a qualified camera operator, operating most recently on the CBC/CW network’s TV Series Aliens In America.

Allison was an episode director/writer for the last three seasons of The Shopping Bags and continues to be engaged by numerous up and coming bands to direct their EPKS and music videos. Allison is also thrilled to have been given the opportunity to explore the intersection of black comedy with music and dance in the BravoTV short 30-Love, and continues to collaborate with up and coming recording artists, choreographers and musicians!

Allison absolutely adores dark comedy and particularly loves making films about women who cause a lot of trouble! She is presently developing a number of feature film projects including The Take Out Girl, (a dark comedy feature, full of trouble making women!) with the assistance of Telefilm Canada and the NSI 'feature first' program.
